I’m flaky …………………………… there I’ve said it when I originally started out on my 80/20 Paleo Challenge I did promise weekly updates however when I got going at it I decided I would give it a few weeks and make sure it wasn’t just one of my fads so I haven’t managed to give you all a blow-by-blow account of whats been happening …. maybe that’s not a bad thing lol x
First off I will be honest with you all, there are days when I have been very very good all meat and green vegs kinda good, but I’m a rogue at heart and I’ve also been bold – prosecco , bulmers light and cream cakes kinda bold. I’m not the biggest eater in the world and I have a tendancy to get addicted to certain foods and live on them for a while. I have found that by undertaking the challenge under Pearls guidance it has pushed me to address the lack of variety in my diet and slowly but surely I am improving. Paleo is great if you like meat and I love a T-bone steak. I also like the way you don’t really have to watch portion sizes as all the food you should be eating is the good stuff. I’m nuts about nuts so that also suits me. Sugar is difficult , I don’t want to like it but I DO !!! But thanks to the likes of Joannes Absolute Nutrition and Urban Health it is possible to enjoy some treats guilt free.
6 weeks from where I started I have lost a couple of Kilo’s, I am feeling good, I am eating better and I am training better. I have also lost inches. Now I have to say Paleo alone has not given me these results as I do train quite a bit. I try to get in 4/5 Crossfit classes a week and 1/2 lighter days in Citywest. I know that wouldn’t be everyone’s idea of fun but I love to exercise.
One of the reasons I tried this was because I was beginning to resign myself to the belief that being on Tamoxifen had taken away my ability to lose or maintain my weight, this is not so. I can honestly say when eating healthy and exercising it is possible to beat Tamoxifen !!! I would recommend you keep a food diary as sometimes stuff slips past our lips and we forget about it, this was definitely what was happening with me.
I have 2 more weeks left and I will post up what my total losses were. If you are feeling bad about your fitness or weight, make small changes don’t pressurise yourself too much, nothing happens overnight it takes time but you will get there in the end you just need to start !!!!
