My name is Mary Stack and I was diagnosed with TNBC at the age of 32. I found a lump in my right breast when I was 7 weeks pregnant last year.
I went to my Dr that day and although it didn’t seem like anything serious, she suggested attending the breast clinic in the Mater to be safe. 2 weeks later my results came back and to everyones shock It was cancer. I had a lumpectomy and once I passed 12 weeks in my pregnancy underwent chemo. I had 4 cycles of AC, and 4 cycles of Taxol while pregnant.
As you can imagine it was a very frightening time. But with each cycle of chemo, my baby was scanned and we could see him getting stronger and stronger as the months passed.
On 10th August 2018, I gave birth to my guardian angel Cillian, who was born perfectly healthy with more hair than me . 6 weeks later I returned to hospital for 8 more weeks of Taxol.
Thankfully I am now finished chemotherapy and in February of this year decided to have a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction. I am so grateful to have found my lump when I did, to have been looked after by so many amazing medical teams and to have my son, who never stopped fighting alongside me throughout our journey xx
